Seems more efficient.īards already get access to learning Identify and Detect Magic, and already have the Ritual Casting feature. The two extra languages could be helpful, but a level in GOO Warlock and taking Comprehend Languages (either Bard or Warlock) basically gives you access to all the languages.

What are some other amazing 2 level dips out there? I'm sure there are some truly broken builds, and I think it would be amazing to play in a really rough campaign with a party full of characters each with an optimised two level dip. The other semi broken 2 level dips I know are Paladin/Warlock for those recharging smites, Sorcerer/Warlock for the extra Sorcery Points, and Druid/Barbarian for Wild Shape Rage. Suddenly I'm curious about the most broken two level dips in the game. Then yesterday I came across the confirmation from Jeremy Crawford that Rogue's Reliable Talent mixes with Bard's Jack Of All Trades, meaning every ability check (including Initiative) would be at least 12 or 13 from levels 13 to 20, making them the ultimate skill monkey, and would help with an Assassin's Assassinate or an Arcane Trickster who took Dispel Magic and/or Counterspell. I also thought about Wizard for the spellbook and utility of unprepared rituals, but I couldn't pick a school and my Intelligence isn't high enough to make the spells I'd pick up particularly helpful in combat. And then recently I've been thinking about a dip into Moon Druid for 2/short rest Wild Shapes into CR 1 creatures and some rotatable Druid spells, but not being able to speak in Wild Shape kinda undercuts my Barding (though it would seriously help with the longevity of a Simulacrum). Then we didn't, so started looking at Warlock for the extra damage potential from the Agonising Eldritch Hex combo, which gets crazy when you take Simulacrum at 16 through Magical Secrets. I started with the idea of going Life Cleric for the shield and armour and the Life bonus for Healing Word/Aura of Vitality because I thought we were going to lose our cleric.

But I realised that it probably wasn't super optimal to be leaving classes before 2nd level, which looks to be when most of them get their best stuff, so started looking at dips into a single class (otherwise I'd never be able to get Wish, but more importantly all my Bard stuff would be too delayed).

Before I started playing, I was looking at a single level of Draconic Sorcerer for the unarmoured AC and a single level of GOO Warlock for the telepathy, plus the cantrips and spells known, and the backstory I had for my character actually fit in quite well for this build. For the longest time I've been thinking about taking two levels of something else to beef up my Bard character.
